Mid June round up

How is it that we find ourselves already in the middle of June?

Winter has well and truly descended upon us here in Auckland.....it is cold, dark, and very wet almost everyday.

I am still trying to walk the big kids to school/kindy as much as possible, and as much as I hate the bitterly cold winds and getting saturated in the rain (yes, I am a poorly equipped person for winter weather....no coat, no gumboots, not even an umbrella - in fact I slosh around in jandals year round, and merely wear a store bought acrylic knitted long cardy/jacket), it is giving Amelia and Leo a good chance to get their hat stash back in action. This photo was taken a fortnight ago on the way to school in the morning.....see Amelia's gorgeous yellow hat (knit for her by Rachael in Christchurch out of BWM Luxury in Citrus....one of my fav colours!), and the stunning rainbow in the background? Actually that day we were treated to a full rainbow! And there was a second half strength one running parallel which doesn't show up in photos:

This cold weather has reminded me just how unprepared I was this year......the new baby had lots of knits, but my poor big kids (and myself) hadn't a thing knit for them.
They're not really super winter items, but I churned out a couple if pairs of fingerless gloves for Amelia and Leo...here he is with his:

I have vowed to be good for next winter and be uber prepared. The children will each have a hoodie and a couple of hats. The fingerless gloves seem fairly popular too.
We will see how that goes........ ;)
