Puerperium Cardigan

It's hard trying to stay away from your blog when you have so much you want to share!

The last few months have seen me very busy working behind the scenes on a few secret projects....most of which I STILL can't share with you. It's awfully frustrating to be restricted to share exciting news, though I just have to remember it will all be worth it in the end ;)

Something I can share though.......
A little under 2 weeks ago I gave birth to my newest bubby, a beautiful wee man called Noah. He arrived 2 and a half weeks early after a 31minute labour, weighing 2.9kg (6lb7oz). He is by far my smallest baby yet, and definately my quickest labour!
Noah is such a sweetheart, and I struggle to believe he has been with us for 2weeks tomorrow!

(this was taken at 8am, 8hours after he arrived, so excused the tired looking mama)

Before Noah arrived I was working on much pattern design work. One particular pattern was designed specifically for him, and I actually worked up the entire pattern and it was just sitting waiting for him to arrive so we could get modelled photographs and get the pattern released.

And so, I introduce the Puerperium Cardigan

(Noah wearing his cardy I knit him in Malabrigo Rios - Sunset)

Puerperium is a very simply styled cardy, designed to be easy for new parents to dress their babe in the puerperium period (6weeks post birth).

The pattern is seamless in construction, and offers a wonderful blank canvas should one decide to embellish.
It features an unusual button placket, which runs along the raglan line, but other than this design feature, it is a very classic in appearance cardigan.

Beautiful photographs were taken by Leah Williams, and is of Noah modelling the 2.7-3.6kg size (6-8lb)...he weighed approx 3.0kg at this time.

This pattern is currently only a free version, and is written for 8ply/DK weight yarn, to fit a newborn babe approx 2.7-3.6kg (6-8lb) in weight, with an approx chest circumference of 37.5cm.

Development of ‘Beyond Puerperium’ will start in the month of May. The Puerperium Cardigan pattern will be expanded out to cover from newborn to 2years of age, in multiple yarn weights.

A romper version of the pattern for newborn to 12months will also be developed in the near future.

  4. I'm just reading this now. Congrats! Noah is a great name. I chose it, too, for one of my boys... almost 15 years ago. :-) Much love to you!
