A little tidying and planning

While I am off from work (outside the home, work), Friday's are a day of just me and the littlest guy - my big 5yr old goes to school, my big 3yr old heads off to daycare for playball and 'lunchbox day', and Noah and I can just potter around together.

Today we were going to have a few people popping in, but one cancelled on us due to sickness, which left me with a little free time while his little highness was sleeping to do something I had been planning on doing for a while.

It wasn't long overdue cleaning (goodness knows there's some of that!), no it was tidying....of the yarn stash :)

For those that have been to my place in person, they know I have a small stash, which is stored in white cube shelves, and arranged in colour groupings. It makes me happy to wake up in the morning, roll over and see the rainbow tower of yarn staring back at me, and then of course to roll the other way and see the boy....the big one, not one of my kiddies ;)

But I digress....the rainbow tower of yarn had become a little messy of late, and was starting to bug me. Baby Noah still sleeps a lot during the day, so realistically that's a great time to get in and do jobbies like this.

Btw, wondering just how cute the bub is nowadays?

Taken yesterday at 4weeks old, weighing 3.9kg/8lb6oz, wearing his mama knit Puerperium Cardigan in Madelinetosh DK, colourway Fig. NB size.

But back to the tidying.

Ok, but first scroll back up the page to see the cuteness one more time ;)

And now you're back.....

I pulled all the yarn off my shelves and carted it into the living room. I made little piles all over the lounge furniture of colours. During the colour creating I saw that I had a gorgeous 'autumn' coloured pile:

Does that not just make you feel all rosy and toasty?!?
Funnily enough, that is part of my favorite shelf - the red/orange/yellow shelf.

While I was sorting, I separated things out that I don't want (will put them on ravelry for sale), and I also got a few yarns lined up ready to cast on projects this weekend.
This weekend I will be casting on:
A wee tunic in Mosaic Moon Gaia Worsted, colour Morning Dew +trim. This is the prototype knit of a very very new girly pattern, and will double as a gift for a new bubby girl arriving soon:

I will also be using some Malabrigo Rios in Sunset to stripe with a second Rios colour to create a Puerperium cardy for Noah in the 0-3m size as he is nearly outgrown his NB size :)

And maybe teal feathers?

Striped together they would look like South Africa's colours, which would be quite fitting considering Noah is half South African! We will see though, as I also have some Coco I could use (brown) and a lovely deep blue.

And finally, the last item in my cast-on-athon this weekend will be a little Wheatspikes vest in red riding hood 8ply superwash merino in Tinman....gorgeous!

What are you planing to do this weekend - tidy, knit, or something entirely different?
